A Puppy Who Had Been Shot Survived And Is Making Headway Towards A Full Recovery
A pup who was found wandering on the streets of Southwest-Miami-Dade with a gunshot wound underwent surgery
at a Hollywood animal clinic and not only survived but is also heading towards a full recovery.
The woman who had found the Doberman mix told reporters that the infected jaw of the pooch was shattered and hanging from her face.
The dog was taken to an animal rescue, and the initial assessment revealed that the dog was a case of a gunshot wound.
The pup was taken to the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital on Sunday night. An X-ray at the hospital showed the degree of the damage that the puppy had sustained, and there were quite a few fractures that were also evident. Some metal pieces could also be seen, which were indicative of a gunshot.
The vets concluded that the dog who now named Clover needed surgery to remove or repair the damaged part of the jaw.
Dr. Natalie Savo, a veterinarian at the hospital, said that the dog would look a little different after surgery, but many canines had recovered well from such kind of procedures in the past and went on to have a healthy life.
Clover already has a foster home waiting for her so that she could be looked after by a loving and caring family.
After the surgery, the vets told news outlets that the dog would be fed through a feeding tube for some time. The feeding tube will be employed until the pup gets used to her new jaw. The surgeons said that the dog was lucky and had an excellent prognosis.
Clover’s road to recovery is expected to be of long duration and also expensive. Jill Banzasck, an animal rescue worker, said that it filled him with hope to see the resilience of the dog, but he also felt angry that how anyone could stoop so low and shoot a helpless animal.
Banzask was hopeful that the worst days of the animal were behind her, and she would be able to make a full recovery.
